American Star Triple Drop Earrings from The Met Museum

These star-studded triple-drop earrings evoke the stars that decorate the top of a magnificent rosewood library table in The Met collection. Our glamorous long earrings in 18K gold plate are decorated with Swarovski® crystals and feature sterling silver ear posts. The heavenly tabletop was made about 1879-82 by Herter Brothers (German, active New York, 1864-1906) for William H. Vanderbilt’s New York City mansion. The monumental work, inlaid with mother-of-pearl and brass, presents a celestial field with the stars over the northern hemisphere on the day Vanderbilt was born: May 8, 1821.
