Ottoman Star Gilded Pendant Necklace from The Met Museum

This starry pendant features 18K rose gold plate with sparkling Swarovski® crystals and a 2-inch extender. The elegant design is derived from an extravagantly bejeweled sword with scabbard in The Met collection. The original saber is said to have been refitted in 1876 for the investiture of the Ottoman sultan Murad V. Probably assembled by a court jeweler, the magnificent sword has a 17th-century Iranian blade, an 18th-century Indian jade grip, and gem-studded gold and gilt-brass mounts of contemporary workmanship.
